Athens - The head of the Greek Orthodox Church Archbishop Christodoulos returned to Athens Friday after spending two months in the United States being treated for severe liver cancer. Plans for a liver transplant in the US failed.
"I will continue the fight for my life here in my homeland," the spiritual leader of Greek Orthodox Christians said on television after his arrival.
The television images also showed several hundred of the faithful gathered at the airport to greet the archbishop.
