Moscow, Jun. 9, 2008 (CWNews.com) - Russian Orthodox Patriarch Alexei II celebrated the Divine Ltiurgy in Moscow's cathedral of Christ the Savior on June 9, celebrating the 125th anniversary of the church's construction, Vatican Radio reports.
The Russian Orthodox Church commissioned the building of the cathedral in thanksgiving for Russia’s victory over Napoleon in 1812. Construction of the building took 50 years.
