Moscow, June 24, Interfax - Over 30 thousand clerics serve in the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia said at the Bishop's Council opening ceremony held on Tuesday.
According to him, the Russian Church has 156 dioceses and 196 hierarchs (including 148 diocesan and 48 vicar bishops.)
The Moscow Patriarchate parishes total to 29,141 while the number of clergymen equals to 30,544.
The Moscow Patriarchate has 769 monasteries (372 friaries and 392 nunneries.)
The number of parochial Sunday schools has reached 11,051. Besides, there are 463 youth centers in Russian Church today.
