Church groups back Russian, Georgian Orthodox peace appeals

brother sophocles, yes, let us pray earnestly for peace at this dreadful hour ! holy proto-martyr rajden of georgia pray to God for us ! ( his feast-day is celebrated tomorrow - aug. 16th -- in the rep. of georgia which uses the old calendar ) ... i just wanted to add --- this is not the first modern war between orthodox nations ... 1. early 1990s -- moldovans & russians fought a nasty , bitter war in trans-dnestr region, ukraine .. 2. don't forget please -- the ossetians and georgians as well as the abkhazians already had a war in the 1990s ... 3. and bulgaria attacked serbia october 7th , 1915 -- world war one ... Tragic when we orthodox fight each other, no?

Yes my dear brother, my prayer is for this to end. It is horrible for Orthodox brethren to hurt one another.

May our Lord have mercy and give peace to our hearts to forgive one another and heal.

In Christ,

Sophocles
