The Russian Church praises Putin's way of transferring state power to Medvedev as a great achievement for Russia

Moscow, June 7, Interfax - Deputy head of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin considers the way the supreme authority in the country has been recently transferred a new word in Russian political culture.

"It's a great achievement for Russia that the authority was transferred from hand to hand publicly with well intentions. A few countries enjoy the same. And we have never had it before," Fr. Vsevolod said answering the questions of the Komsomolskaya Pravda daily website readers.

According to the priest, Boris Yeltsin transferred his authorities to Vladimir Putin "almost secretly, in a hurry."

"Nowadays, we see how a person transfers his authorities to the other with good wishes and directions. It's a new word in our political culture. And I'm sincerely glad about it," the Moscow Patriarchate representative confessed.

According to him, the Church "respectfully" treats people who personify state power "at least because they enjoy the trust of people."
