Kaliningrad, August 26, Interfax - The Orthodox church of the Icon of Our Lady of the Sign in Znamensk village of the Gvardeisk district in the Kaliningrad Region was attacked.
Some vandals broke window glasses and made their way to the church last night, the Yantarny Kray e-paper has reported on Tuesday.
The malefactors smashed everything their eyes met. They threw the Gospels down to the floor in the sanctuary.
The festival event took place in the church on August 17 when it was consecrated by the chair of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad.
According to the diocese representative, "the vandals seemed to look for church wine as it was poured down on the floor."
