Skopje. The statement of the head of the Macedonian Orthodox Church Archbishop Stefan in Rome excludes any territorial ambitions. The statement has been misused, with the words having been taken rudely out of context, the Macedonian Orthodox Church said, cited by Focus News Agency’s correspondent in Skopje.
“Neither today, nor now can we deny that Thessaloniki is the native land of our all-Slavic writing based on the dialect of the then population living in that area. That is why Thessaloniki belongs to us and all Slavic people,” reads the statement of the Macedonian Orthodox Church.
