Commemorated on February 20
Saint Agathon, Pope of Rome, was the son of pious Christian parents, who
provided him an excellent education. After their death, St Agathon
distributed his inheritance to the poor and became a monk. His virtuous
life could not remain concealed from people. In 679, he was elected as
the Bishop of Rome, and he remained in this position until his death in
682.
