Installation of New Leaders and Symposium (Sept 14-15)
The Installation of the new leaders of St Vladimir’s Seminary will be on the Feast Day of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, September 14, 2007. The Very Rev. Dr Chad Hatfield will be installed as the Chancellor and the Rev. Dr John Behr will be installed as the Dean. The day will begin with a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy and later that afternoon a Moleben (Prayer of Thanksgiving) will be followed by the official Installation in the Metropolitan Philip Auditorium of the Rangos Building.
To celebrate the beginning of this new era, on Saturday, September 15, 2007, St Vladimir’s Seminary will host a symposium on The Challenges for Orthodox Theology and Theological Education in the 21st Century. The featured speakers for the symposium are His Grace Hilarion, Bishop of Vienna and Austria of the Russian Orthodox Church, His Grace Maxim, Bishop of the Western American Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Fr Andrew Louth: Professor of Byzantine and Patristic Studies at the University of Durham, U.K. and Fr John McGuckin: Professor of Church History, Union Theological Seminary, and Professor of Byzantine Christianity at Columbia University. The day’s events will begin with a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy and the symposium will begin at 1:00 pm.
