PODGORICA -- A church near Podgorica, currently under construction, has been damaged in an explosion Friday.
The structure is being built by the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) in Montenegro, which issued a statement in the wake of the incident dubbing it "a terrorist act".
The reports do not indicate the extent of damage suffered by the structure.
Montenegrin police say they found traces of explosives in the vicinity of the building, but did not reveal whether they had any suspects in the ongoing investigation.
The SPC, however, pointed the finger at "politicians and individuals" who have "for some time been creating an atmosphere where church structures and church dignitaries can be attacked with impunity".
The statement did not elaborate on the identity of the said individuals.
