Moscow, September 30, Interfax – The Days of Russian Spiritual Culture are to take place in some countries of Latin America in October.
Representative delegation from Russia including priests and figures of culture will visit seven countries: Cuba, Costa Rica, Brazil, Argentina, Chili, and Paraguay. Hierarchs of the Moscow Patriarchate and the Russian Church Abroad are to concelebrate divine liturgies.
The first divine service is to take place on October 19 in the Church of the Kazan Icon of Our Lady in Havana. Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations Metropolitan Kirill will conduct the great consecration of the church.
“The action is aimed at forming positive public opinion about reunion of the Russian Orthodox Church in Russia and Abroad, for Orthodox believers in the Latin America to get acquainted with modern Russian Orthodoxy and restore shrines in Russia,” the program’s organizers have told an Interfax-Religion correspondent.
Orthodox liturgies and prayer services will take place in San Jose, Caracas, San Paulo, Buenos Aires, Mar-del-Plata, Santiago, and Asuncion. Participants are to celebrate the patron’s day in St. Zinaida Church on October 25. First time in history a bishopric Orthodox service will be held on Mount Corcovado at foot of the renowned statue of Christ the Savior symbolizing Catholic Brazil.
