Moscow, March 5, Interfax – First hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad Metropolitan Laurus denied predictions of mass exodus from the ROCOR after its re-union with the Moscow Patriarchate.
“Some people have really joint schismatic structures, but they are few. There was no mass exodus,” the metropolitan said in his interview to the Pravoslavnaya Moskva newspaper cited by the Moscow Patriarchate’s website on Wednesday.
According to Metropolitan Laurus, the majority of believers “took the Act of canonical communion calmly or was even inspired by it,” and further developments aren’t “alarming.”
“We communicate in spirit of love and peace: we enjoy the same independence as before and no one lays claims to our property. People see its good fruit and consider it the most important result of our re-union,” the metropolitan stressed.
