Celebrations are set to begin in the United States to mark the re-unification of the Russian Orthodox Church with its affiliates abroad. The event will last for over a month and include church services and concerts.

During the Soviet era the Russian Orthodox Church split and it has taken years of negotiations for the two sides to get back together.
A delegation from the Moscow Patriarchy has arrived in New York to begin the celebrations.
Further events will be held in a number of cities in the U.S. as well as in Australia and Europe, ending with special prayers in Paris.
