Moscow, July 22, Interfax - The Russian Orthodox Church is deeply concerned with video material confiscated from a Russian journalist who filmed a report on situation in Ukrainian Orthodoxy.
"This fact causes deep concerns. Perhaps, there are representatives of Ukrainian authorities who make nothing of major violations against freedom of speech to achieve their objective which is to disguise the truth about schism in artificial formation of a new "one local" Church," the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations secretary Archpriest Nikolay Balashov told Interfax-Religion.
"It's clear to everyone, the priest further said, that "church building" can't be realized by means of suppressing information. It's impossible to oblige people to go to a state church, heart chooses the faith. I regret those who don't understand it. And even more I regret for the believers, who are considered an obedient material for executing state order."
