Moscow, March 6, Interfax - Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II has received Russia's Person of the Year Award.
"One can hardly overestimate your service to the fatherland and the Orthodox people," Public Chamber member and President of the Russian Academy of Business and Free Enterprise Irina Verbulina told the Patriarch in Moscow on Thursday.
The unification of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia (ROCOR), which occurred on May 17, 2007, with the signing of the Act of Canonical Communion between Patriarch Alexy II and ROCOR head, Metropolitan Laurus, "was a real triumph of the idea of creation and cooperation between Orthodox believers of many states," Verbulina said.
