Venerable Athanasius of Murom
Saint Athanasius was igumen at the monastery of St Lazarus
during the mid-fifteenth century. After his death, the ascetic’s body
was buried in a separate chapel, where the chains of the saint were
preserved as evidence of his exploits.
The veneration of this
saint goes back a long time. In the second half of the seventeenth
century they called St Athanasius “a wonderworking monk.”
